Two native artists, as “P” reveals today, intend to run for the position of artistic director of DIPETHE Patras. They are Tatiana Loverdou, acclaimed choreographer, dance teacher, director of the “Dance and Arts Center” “Dansarte” and Dimitris Georgalas, actor and director. It remains to be seen if the Peletidis municipal authority, this time, will elect an artistic director based on purely artistic criteria and not partisan ones, as was done in the past.
The two fellow artists they spoke to “P” for the reasons that prompted them to run for office.
TATIANA LOVERDOU: “The theater must be in constant dialogue with native artists”
“I have been following the course of the Theater since the 1st term of Maya Lymberopoulos. I was invited as a choreographer during the tenure of Nikos Armaus. Themis Moumoulidis invited me to collaborate as a Dance Theater manager with my own dance group and with other renowned choreographers. He didn’t just invite me. Call all the artists of Patras.
I’m a choreographer who lives here. I have the Dance and Arts Center DANSARTE, with amateur as well as professional activity. That is, my Vocational School is Higher, contracted to the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
I taught Kinesiology at the Drama School, under the tenure of Thodoros Ambazis and artistic director Eleni Bozas, for three consecutive years.
I love the theater and closely follow professionals and amateurs. I am fully active as a choreographer and teacher of modern dance. I teach 2 classes a day, while at the same time I choreograph and manage the Dance Center, with love and dedication.
I follow the theater productions all over Greece and I am impressed by the work of the director and actor Asterios Peltekis at KTHBE. I will seek co-production of the two DIPETHE.
I follow the work of the actor and director Gerasimos Gennatas and if elected, I will include some of his works in my proposal. I will immediately invite him to honor me with his cooperation. He has given a huge “presence” to our city.
Both major directors were nominated in the previous term. But they were not elected. I leave the comments to the readers.
I will recommend specific works that take into account the history of the 20th century.
I will propose the active participation of the city’s musicians for live collaboration with choreographers to institute Dance Days. I will suggest reading new works by the writers of our city under the auspices of DIPETHE. As well as visual works that can work in combination.
I believe that theater should embrace young actors by providing infrastructure for their own plays and more.
The theater must be in a constant dialogue with the native artists, in parallel with the most remarkable conversions.
I will propose collaboration with the Department of Theater Studies of the University of Patras, with the aim of creating a production for little Epidaurus and beyond.
Theater must be active every day. This is worthy of its history. This is what our Patras deserves.
If elected, I will inform the Patrons regarding the restoration of the Municipal Theater. We have incomplete information.
Finally, I will be happy if she is elected director, on merit with intention and qualifications and superior to mine.”
DIMITRIS GEORGALAS: “To contribute to the revival of culture in Patras”
“The motivation that pushed me to run is the love and great relationship I have with Patras. Through the position of the artistic director of the municipal hall, I want to contribute with all my strength to the revival of culture in Patras”.
