What did the US say regarding Israel’s attack on Iran?

For his part, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken declined to respond to his Italian counterpart’s claims, but indicated that Washington was not involved in any attack. “I’m not going to talk regarding that except to say that the United States has not participated in any offensive operations,” he added.

Friday morning, Iran fired its air defenses at a major air base and nuclear facility near the city of Isfahan, in the center of the country, following sighting drones that would be part of an apparent Israeli attack in response to Tehran’s unprecedented offensive with drones and missiles last weekend.

In the final declaration of the summit, the ministers urged the two sides “to avoid a new escalation” in the conflict.

In its statement, the group – made up of those responsible for foreign policy from the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States – guaranteed support for Israel’s security and condemned “in the strongest terms” what which he described as a “(Iran’s) unprecedented attack on Israel on April 13 and 14, which Israel defeated with the help of its partners,” in addition to the capture of the MSC Aries cargo ship, flying the Portuguese flag, in the Strait of Hormuz.

“We are willing to adopt new sanctions or take other measures, now and in response to future destabilizing initiatives,” the note added.

Regarding the war in Gaza, the group called on Hamas to release the hostages and reminded Israel that it must respect international and humanitarian law.

“The G7 worked and will work for a de-escalation,” Tajani noted at the final press conference, adding that this would include the reduction of tensions, followed by a ceasefire, the release of the hostages and aid to the Palestinian people.
