Friday 19 April in the followingnoon, a small child was rushed to hospitalAjaccio Hospital for one lightning purple in favor of one invasive meningococcal infectiona severe, sometimes fatal form of severe sepsis. In a press release it writesARS gave details of the management of a real “health emergency” : “In connection with all the services concerned (the hospital center toAjaccioMother’s child protection of The Community of Corsicareferring doctor at kindergarten a the city Hall of the relevant municipality), ARS carried out epidemiological investigations which made it possible to identify and prevent preventive treatment contact persons in the danger zone in the family, medical and nursery areas.”
It’s all regarding “60 contacts, including 31 children” that has been “identified and have received or will receive antibiotic treatment no later than tomorrow (Saturday 20 April, editor’s note) to prevent new cases from occurring”.
What to do
This treatment prophylactic antibioticsspecifies ARS, “gives us the opportunity to prevent the occurrence of serious forms, cut the chains of transmission and thus limit the risk ofepidemic“. The regional health authority reminds you of the actions you must follow: “Don’t introduce yourself to EMERGENCY STYLES nor at a pharmacy without first being contacted by one doctor or a nurse by ARS. If you have symptoms, call 15 (severe headache, accompanied by fever, sensitivity to light, stiff neck, pain and fatigue, red or purple subcutaneous spots (purpura) on the body). tpreventive treatment with antibiotics is only available by prescription. This will be issued to you if you are identified as a person at risk, i.e. if you have had close (less than one meter face-to-face) and prolonged (more than an hour) contact with the sick person in the last 10 days. People who are close to risk contacts are not contacts and therefore do not need treatment.”
