The La Périgordine association is organizing an Ultra Rando Cyclo from Lardin-Saint-Lazare on April 20 and 21, the objective of which for participants is to tour the Dordogne.

This Saturday, April 20 at 12 p.m. sharp in Lardin-Saint-Lazare, around thirty cyclists will set off to complete a crazy challenge: that of completing a tour of the Dordogne. By following the department’s border lines, they will cover 540 km and face 5,530 m of elevation gain. The idea of organizing this event comes from the La Périgordine association.

“In principle, ultra-hiking is done solo, and without assistance. But for ours, we are going to innovate and obviously offer it solo, but also in duo (two-person relay) or quattro (four-person relay). Refreshments and rest points are planned to make it more widely accessible and of interest to runners who are not ultra specialists but are fans of classic long distances or simply for a challenge between friends. she explains.

Departmental roads to discover

Regarding the route, participants will pass through Groléjac, Biron, Razac-de-Saussignac, Le Pizou, Gout-Rossignol, Piégut-Pluviers and Angoisse. “It is entirely traced within the department, as close as possible to its limits, but on a good quality cycle path, mainly on departmental roads”specifies the organizing association.

Beautiful climbs and descents should not be overlooked. Competitors will not be able to rely on arrows along the route, but will have a counter with the route trace, as well as a paper route sheet. They will therefore operate independently, must be equipped with suitable equipment to ride day and night, will be supplied with supplies and will be able to stop at rest points. The first arrivals are expected around 6 a.m. on Sunday. Important detail: no need to rush for them! This is a hiking mode event, therefore without timing or ranking.
