The court approved the two-day physical remand of the GAPCO officers arrested yesterday for making fake billing and bogus entries and handed them over to the FIA.
FIA on Wednesday produced the arrested officers and employees of Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GAPCO) in court, 20 officers and employees of GAPCO were detained by the FIA last night.
FIA had registered a case once morest GAPCO officers and employees for making fake billing and bogus entries.
The arrested accused include five revenue officers, assistant managers and additional managers.
Besides, six divisional account officers and five commercial assistants and employees are also among the accused.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered to adopt zero tolerance policy on over-billing across the country.
The Interior Minister says that over-billing will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He ordered indiscriminate action once morest the staff involved in over-billing across Pakistan and said that there will be no compromise on over-billing.
The Federal Interior Minister also ordered to intensify the crackdown once morest electricity thieves across the country and directed the FIA officers to show 100 percent efficiency once morest over-billing and electricity thieves.
He said that over-billing is like cruelty to people. The staff involved in this does not deserve any discount.
On the other hand, following the arrest of 20 GAPCO officials by FIA, GAPCO cut off the power to the regional office of FIA, following which FIA staff were forced to work without electricity.
