The Indonesian National Army Air Force (TNI AU) under the leadership of Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohamad Harjono continues to strive to improve the main weapon system or defense equipment program. According to the Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service (Kadispenau) Colonel Pnb Ardi Syahri, the Indonesian Air Force does not only rely on defense equipment made in America and Russia.

“There are Rafale (warplanes) now coming in, from Europe. We are not only using Russia’s and America’s, but Europe has also coming in,” he explained in Jakarta at the Get to Know Farewell Kadispenau event, Thursday (18/4).

The Rafale fighter aircraft is produced by Dassault Aviation from France. The government through the Ministry of Defense has purchased 42 Rafale fighter aircraft. The procurement contract will be effective first in September 2022 and finally in January 2024.

Ardi said that improving defense equipment within the Indonesian Air Force was part of the Modern program. Modern is one of the five flagship programs of the Indonesian Air Force under Harjono, alongside Adaptive, Professional, Superior and Humanist. When combined, all these programs form the abbreviation AMPUH.

The Adaptive Program, continued Ardi, requires the Indonesian Air Force to adapt to other forces such as the Indonesian Army, Indonesian Navy, and even the police. Meanwhile, Professional is a program aimed at improving soldier safety.

“If you are professional, that means safety will increase once more,” he continued.

He continued, the Superior program aims to make the Indonesian Air Force superior in the region to maintain stability. According to him, being superior in the region will have a deterrent effect, such as in ASEAN, regionally and globally. In this way, balance and stability in the region can be realized.

Meanwhile Humanis is a program that demands that the Indonesian Air Force be closer and loved by the community. As Kadispenau who was just appointed last Wednesday (18/4), Ardi will implement a Humanist program related to the publication of the 78th Anniversary of the Indonesian Air Force in Yogyakarta on April 22.

Before Ardi, the position of Kadispenau was led by First Marshal TNI Bambang Juniar Djatmiko. Juniar himself has taken up a new position as Commander of Adi Soemarmo Air Base, Solo. (Z-8)
