Today, Monday, April 15, 2024, in Rabat, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mohamed Seddiqi, chaired a meeting with professionals from the red meat sector, as part of preparations for Eid al-Adha.
The meeting, which was attended by representatives of various players in the red meat sector, discussed the situation of this sector in the face of current challenges, such as drought, inflation, and the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, which affected the sector’s production balance.
My friend stressed the importance of ensuring that the national market is supplied with red meat during Eid al-Adha, stressing the need to take all necessary measures to ensure price stability and product quality.
The Minister highlighted that the meeting represented an opportunity to study the supply situation in the national market with regard to red meat, and to discuss ways to enhance national production and meet the needs of internal consumption.
For his part, the head of the agricultural cooperative “Copac”, Moulay Mohamed Oultiti, confirmed that the meeting aimed to discuss ways to supply the national market with red meat on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, pointing out the importance of the balance between national production, internal consumption and import needs.
In turn, the head of the National Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders, Abdul Rahman Al-Majdoubi, explained that the process of identifying the herd of sheep and goats designated for sacrifice began more than a month ago, and that it is proceeding normally, as more than two million heads have been identified so far.
The meeting concluded by emphasizing the determination of the Ministry and the professionals to work together to ensure that the national market is supplied with red meat during Eid al-Adha, in the best conditions and at suitable prices for consumers.
