“In Belgrano we are aiming to go for everything”

Juan Cruz Real spends his days in Córdoba in a very famous hotel in the city. “I don’t go out much. From training to hotel and from hotel to training. I watch a lot of football, we are 100 committed to bringing out the best in the players so that Belgrano does better and better,” he told La Voz in the restaurant of that hotel.

He did it in a no-holds-barred video for the Instagram account of the newspaper’s Sports section in which he also talks regarding whether he likes fernet, what music he listens to and the reason why he reads more than he watches movies.

After these confessions, the Pirate coach did touch on the most football-related topics: what his Belgrano plays, what the team is for and the positions of some players, such as Bryan Reyna, the “drama” of injuries and why they are not an excuse.

It was a 20-minute talk that can be seen in full on the Mundo Pirata podcast that is published on Tuesday, April 23 on SpotiFy and on YouTube. And it can also be read in the printed edition of this Friday the 19th of La Voz.

Here, a preview of some of those opinions regarding the present of Belgrano, which visits Real Tomayapo on Wednesday the 24th, for the third date of the 2024 Copa Sudamericana.

–How is Belgrano today?

–We are happy with the response we have from the players. It is a group of footballers who really want to reverse the situation and the streak was changed. The team today is eager to continue evolving and growing and seeking the best version day by day. We want to be better. Within that I found a good club and a team that achieved good results beyond the last game (0-4 once morest Racing).

–What is the work dynamic like with your coaching staff?

–The central coaching staff is five people. We are with Alejandro Limia, Cristhian Duarte, Facundo Gareca, who are the main assistants, who work on tactical and strategic aspects. And then there is Ramiro Peragallo, as physical trainer. Plus all the people that Belgrano has on his staff, who are very capable people. We are very satisfied. Obviously we are looking at options to continue adding people. In what sense? So that the training can be more specific. That we have more quality in the individualization of corrections for footballers. Always thinking regarding reducing the margins of error and providing a lot of information to the footballer. Because at Belgrano we are aiming to go for everything. And if we go for that, the quality of our work has to be of the highest possible level.

–How are you managing the issue of injuries and absences?

–Unfortunately, shortly following arriving we had the losses of Ulises (due to Sánchez, who tore the ligaments in his knee) and Lucas (due to Passerini, who suffered the same injury). Well, now we had casualties due to dengue, like Moreno and Rébola. And when we arrived, Losada was suffering from dengue. It was a complex month for the team. And we know that for the Copa Sudamericana we cannot incorporate because there is a certain list. Additions must wait until the pass book is opened. This is part of the game and must be managed. Even knowing that it is a significant difficulty, we have to continue moving forward and competing and seeking the best in each competition. Then, how do we do? Knowing that the guys who are here have a lot of desire. Accepting that we lost important players. But we believe that we can continue to grow on a day-to-day basis while those injured recover. And knowing that in the middle of the year we will be able to incorporate.

–Is the message that there are no excuses?

–It is like that, difficulties will always be there. And they are players whose absences are felt. We are not going to deny it. But we are a team, a squad. We have the players we have and we are happy with all of them. We have to overcome and have the best version every day. Always betting on the winner and seeking the objectives we have. Injuries are mitigating but they cannot paralyze us.

The talk continued with more football topics and with his longest response: when he justified the positions in which Bryan Reyna, Francisco González Metilli and Nicolás Meriano are playing. All that, tomorrow in the print edition of The voice.
