Company will show how Microsoft Copilot, Minecraft and technological solutions can collaborate for teaching and learning

São Paulo, April 18, 2024 – Between April 23 and 26, Microsoft Brasil will be at Bett Brasil 2024 to present how its technological solutions, based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) can transform education, support educators, students, educational institutions and education networks. In the Microsoft auditorium, experiences from institutions in the academic and management areas will be presented, as well as solutions that can be adopted by them. Everyone is invited to “reimagine” education, using solutions such as Microsoft Copilot, Minecraft for Education, Microsoft Teams for Education, Progresso de Leitura, Insights, in addition to accessibility solutions. Reinforcing its commitment to excellence in education for all and to the democratization of the use of AI, free solutions will be highlighted, accessible to all educational institutions, public and private, of basic and higher education.

“We are committed to the responsible and safe use of artificial intelligence, which applies to all of our business areas. But education is special. It took decades of study and research to create solutions that use the latest technological developments to enable the transformation of activities in the pedagogical and management sphere, optimizing the teacher’s time so that they can focus on what really matters: the student and their learning. The advancement of AI, especially generative AI, not only enables a radical transformation of traditional teaching and learning models, but imposes it”, explains Vera Cabral, Microsoft Education specialist for Latin America.

Since 2023, Microsoft has been expanding its offering of generative AI resources in all its tools and solutions to democratize its use and increase people’s productivity and creativity. OMicrosoft Copilot with commercial data protection, has been integrated into all of the Microsoft 365 Education, including zero-cost licenses aimed at teachers and higher education students, aged 18 or over. A toolavailable in the Egde browser, can also be used as a virtual education assistant, helping teachers create lesson plans, tasks and images, through commands in natural language.

Artificial intelligence has been integrated into learning acceleration solutions such as Microsoft Reading Progress, a tool that works on reading fluency, in which students read aloud in front of the computer. The tool points out to students where they are having difficulty, at the same time as sending information to the teacher. Based on this information, which can be viewed for each student, for groups, or for the entire class, the teacher can define specific strategies for everyone to achieve excellence. Already the Microsoft Reading Assistant helps students improve in reading activities, including pronunciation, by identifying challenging words for each, and automatically creating opportunities to practice them.

The Progress and Reading Aid tools are essential for achieving reading fluency in students in the early years of elementary school. And they are also important resources for learning foreign languages for more advanced students, including those in higher education. always with a view to supporting educators and improving the learning experience of students.

All these tools, and others, are integrated into Microsoft Teams for Educationan application that makes life easier for educators, enables the organization of work and collaboration on tasks. With AI, these tools have become even more intelligent and have gained the ability to suggest content, task instructions, personalized reading suggestions, association with learning objectives learning, etc., efficiently.

A new classroom

One of the most played games by people of different ages, Minecraft, in its version Minecraft Education It is an innovative tool that brings more dynamism to the classroom. It allows the teacher to develop creative learning proposals, including interdisciplinary activities. With it, it is possible to create worlds within the game, enabling experiences and learning in different areas and components such as history, environment, geography, among others. The student learns while playing. Minecraft Education is also an important tool for developing computational thinking, as well as for learning programming, also used in higher education.

As Microsoft Reflect, students learn to reflect on their feelings. Using a character, the “Feelings Monster”, 60 different emotions and their expressions are demonstrated in a playful way, helping students identify and name their emotions. This tool, integrated with Teams, provides valuable insights for promoting student well-being, creating a culture of well-being and contributing to the development of interpersonal skills. The app also allows you to create regular check-ins to monitor student attendance.

“Today’s young people were born into the digital environment. The way they deal with the world and how they relate to each other is very different from how we used to do it. The school cannot be detached from this reality. Using technology resources is no longer an option, it is an imperative”, says Vera. According to her, AI tools in education create conditions for real personalization of learning: each student learns at their own pace, in the way that suits them best.

“With this, we can see that concepts so ingrained in our culture, such as ‘learning recovery’, become obsolete and decontextualized. And the teacher’s work becomes even more important. With technology performing more bureaucratic tasks, which consume a lot of their time, the teacher can dedicate themselves to understanding the learning of each student and the class as a whole, defining the best individual and collective strategies, and achieving what is expected from education. – that everyone learns”, adds Vera Cabral.

Safe and responsible use of technology

With AI integrated into security tools, educational institutions also have new resources to protect their digital environments. Security is a fundamental theme for Microsoft, which permeates all of its solutions. Among the specific security tools, o Microsoft Defender and the Microsoft Sentinel are responsible for keeping data, servers and workstations always protected and managed. Already theMicrosoft Defender for Endpointwas created to protect devices used in the classroom by students, while Microsoft Copillot for Security equips IT teams to more quickly identify and act on malicious signals.

In school management, whether academic, administrative or financial, the use of Copilot brings enormous potential for optimizing activities. A simple example can be given by improving the contact experience between the school and parents of students.

In addition to Copilot and the solutions and tools that already incorporate AI into their constitutions, Microsoft also provides the Azure Open AI, so that each institution can develop its own solutions, suited to its specific needs and objectives.

With Microsoft Copilot associated with solutions such as Business Applications, Git Hub, Azure Studio, as well as the evolution of Low Code/No Code tools, the development of your own solutions has become quite simple and can be part of the reality of any institution . Come find out more at the Microsoft stand and embark on the future of education.
