“It is a great pleasure to receive the award for the best performance at the festival, which featured so many strong performances from all over Lithuania. This year, our entire creative team won the “Fortūnas” award in Kaunas for the performance “When we will be young”, and later the actresses of the performance were awarded with the Golden Stage Cross. And finally, the performance itself received the award.
It’s nice when a work is rewarded, because we work so sincerely and so diligently for its creation. I send special wishes to Vladimir Sherstaboev, the lighting designer of our performance, who believed in the success of this work from the very first rehearsal! And I would like to thank all the rockers who nurture the theater gene!”, said A. Špilevojus while accepting the award.
The prize for the best female role was awarded to Diana Kamarauskaitei for her role as Jessie in the Keistuouli Theater play “Goodnight, Mom”. “Thank you for the great support, it is very important to me,” thanked D. Kamarauskaitė from the stage.
Director and dramatist Justas Tertelis became the best performer of a male role for the role of an average actor in the play “PRAEis” created by the theater “Atviras ratas”. “It’s not the first time I’ve been awarded in Rokiškis, and now it’s the same joy once more,” said the actor.
Actor Severinas Norgaila was appreciated for his role in the performance of the State Drama Theater of Šiauliai “Flying Travolta”. He won the Best Supporting Actor award.
Traditionally, part of the bonuses are intended for creators of children’s performances. The main prize for the best performance for children went to the Klaipėda Puppet Theater’s play “Tunelis”, and the young audience prize went to the dance theater Dansema for the performance “Unseen World”.
The audience prize went to the Kaunas State Musical Theater musical “Aida”, directed by Vytenis Pauliukaitis. The special prize of the jury was awarded to the urban dance theater “Low Air” for the performance “me two / Savoj krupoj”, whose dramaturgy (director Jonas Tertelis, choreographer Airida Gudaitė) is based on the personal experiences of the group’s young dancers. Klaipėda Youth Theater performance “Being Alice”, directed by Didier Girauldon, set designer Renata Valčik, was awarded the best scenography of the performance.
At the closing of the festival, a publication dedicated to the festival, which has been running for forty years, was presented. The main idea of the organizers of the publication is to reveal the diversity of the festival: what it was, is, and will be. It is both the history of the festival, current events, and a link to future festivals. This publication will serve as a guide for the audience who has come to the festival for the first time, the actor, and the guest of the city of Rokiškis.
The festival of Lithuanian professional theaters celebrating its fortieth anniversary every year gives the residents of Rokiškis and the surrounding districts of the Aukštaitija region a unique opportunity to see the best productions of Lithuanian professional theaters without going to the big cities of Lithuania. It is the only theater festival in Lithuania that has existed without interruption for four decades and has preserved the traditions of awarding prizes and supporting theaters. The prize fund of the festival amounts to almost 11 thousand. euros.
