Israel – Yesterday, Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant held a discussion on the issue of preparations to carry out the civil operations necessary for the army forces’ ground incursion into the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Ministry of Defense said, “In a discussion attended by the Director General of the Ministry, Major General Eyal Zamir, and the Coordinator of Government Activities, Major General Ghassan Alyan, the Minister of Defense stressed that, in accordance with the Cabinet’s decision, a series of measures must be prepared before ground operations begin.”

The statement added that Minister Gallant stressed “the need to focus on evacuating civilians from Rafah and expanding the routes for bringing food and medical equipment into the Gaza Strip.”

It is worth noting that two Israeli sources told CNN yesterday, Monday, that Israel was regarding to take its first steps towards launching a ground attack on Rafah this week, but postponed those plans while it was considering a response to the recent Iranian attack.

The two sources, who were not named, indicated that the Israeli Air Force intended to drop leaflets on some areas in the city on Monday, and one of the Israeli officials confirmed that Israel is still determined to launch the ground attack on Rafah, but the timing of carrying out the civilian evacuations is not yet clear. And launched the planned attack.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to postpone the military operation in Rafah. Netanyahu confirmed earlier that the international pressure exerted on Israel would not prevent him from carrying out a military operation in Rafah.

Yesterday evening, Sunday, the Israeli army announced its intention to recruit two reserve brigades for operational tasks in the Gaza Strip in the coming days, based on its assessment of the situation.
