Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, were hiding in the bunker of the luxury villa belonging to conglomerate Simon Falic in the Talpiot area, Jerusalem when Iran counterattacked, Saturday (13/4) night by firing more than 300 missiles and drones.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the villa in Jerusalem’s Talpiot district, which Netanyahu and his wife have frequently used in recent years, is equipped with a sophisticated missile shelter.

An advanced missile defense system or bunker at the residence was used as a precaution once morest Iran’s possible reaction to the killing of a senior official in Damascus.

Not only that, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s eldest son, Yair Netanyahu, also lives in an apartment in Miami, USA, owned by a close friend of the Falic family.

As the political and security situation continues to unfold, Netanyahu’s presence in the Falic bunker raises further speculation and questions regarding what steps the Israeli government will take in the face of the growing threat from Iran and national security.

Tens of thousands of Israelis demonstrated in various locations to protest Prime Minister Netanyahu’s stance on the conflict. Dozens of people stood near the mansion of American billionaire Simon Falic on Jerusalem’s Caspian Road. They also gathered in Caesarea and Haifa, where demonstrators marched with drums and banners and voiced their protests.

Who is Simon Falic?

Simon Falic, an American Jewish businessman, close friend of the Netanyahu family who is also a major donor from the United States.

Falic is chairman of Duty Free Americas, which operates more than 200 retail stores at airports and border crossings in the Western Hemisphere. This shop is famous for selling luxury goods such as perfume, cosmetics and fashion accessories.

Additionally, the Falic family is also a part-owner of Israeli winery Psagot, which caused a stir in 2019 when the European Union Court of Justice ruled its wine should be labeled as a settlement product.

This made Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s visit to the winery the first US Secretary of State to visit settlers in the West Bank.

Over the past decade, the family has donated at least $5.6 million to settler organizations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem including synagogues, schools, social services and even far-right movements considered extreme, even in Israel. (Z-3)
