 2024-04-16 14:35:05

More specifically, from Palm Sunday, April 28 to Holy Tuesday, April 30, in separate, special and immersive spaces, more than fifty concerts will be given, with free admission, making the residents of Athens feel the arrival of Easter. It is the second festival of its kind following the first one that was presented in 2022 with great success and high attendance.

The Festival was presented yesterday at the Museum of Newer Greek Culture, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Linas Mendonis, the artistic director of the Hellenic Republic, George Koumentakis, and the president and managing director of Eurolife FFH, Alexandros Sarrigeorgiou.

The Minister of Culture pointed out: “The Festival was and is an idea of Giorgos Koumendakis, whom I thank once once more for what he offers to the culture of our country. A very large part of the extroversion of the National Opera is due to him. This year, Lyriki, with the brave and generous support of Eurolife FFH and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, decided to organize the Festival beyond the limits of Plaka, the narrow historical center, and starting from the Old Stock Exchange to reach as the gardens of the Presidential Palace.

We, in the Orthodox Church, give special importance to this period and the emotion of the days is pervasive.”

The artistic director of ELS, Giorgos Koumentakis, who presented the events in detail, noted among other things: “This year’s 2nd Worship Music Festival will host over 50 concerts in 13 unique venues in Athens. More than 500 artists will be participating, and we are very happy that, among the great works we will present, we have the pleasure of having 11 new works commissioned.

This year, the Festival opens its wings even more and expands to new areas, outside the boundaries of Plaka”.

The president and managing director of Eurolife FFH, Alexandros Sarrigeorgiou, said among other things: “Three years ago, George Koumentakis and his colleagues discussed with us the idea of a Festival that would fill the streets of the city with sounds and melodies, which would converted churches and monuments of Athens into concert venues, with free access for citizens. With great joy we decided to join forces with the National Opera and the Ministry of Culture”.
