Sanctions imposed by the US and UK, which ban the import of Russian aluminum, might affect a significant part of Rusal’s exports. The restrictions will affect a third of the company’s exports, Kommersant reports, citing a source familiar with the situation.
“The imposed US and UK sanctions on Russian aluminum threaten Rusal’s export supplies of 1.5 million tons. Or regarding a third of total exports,” says the newspaper material “Kommersant».
The introduction of a ban might lead to Rusal being forced to send products to warehouses that are already almost full. This, the newspaper’s sources believe, creates additional difficulties for the company in the context of interconnected global production and logistics networks.
United States officially announced on new sanctions on April 12, banning the import of aluminum, copper and nickel from Russia. Earlier, in December last year, the UK introduced similar measures regarding these same metals, as well as zinc, lead, tin, tungsten and others. However, Rusal stated its ability to continue supplies, noting that the sanctions do not affect key aspects of the company’s activities.
