“Who will give the pass” –
Luca De Lellis

The rope continues to be tugged with semi-diplomatic declarations from both ends. On the one hand there is General Roberto Vannacci, who not only wants to secure a candidacy on the League’s lists in the next European elections, but would also like a first-tier role. On the other side we find a large part of the historic ruling class of the Northern League who are skeptical regarding the added value that the former commander of Task Force 45 would bring during the war in Afghanistan. Between the two fires there is the leader Matteo Salvini, dealing with negotiations both within the party and with Vannacci to establish what to do two months before the fundamental appointment. The Northern League representative Gian Marco Centinaio, who spoke during the episode of Tagadà broadcast on La7, not even too much between the lines, showed that he leans more towards the internal hierarchies to be respected: “I think it is more right to reward people, militants, administrators and outgoing MEPs who have been there the longest”.

Who is an electric car suitable for? Vannacci's truth

The guest of the presenter Tiziana Panella did not appreciate the requests made by General Vannacci regarding an alleged role as leader of the list claimed for Salvini. Indeed, based on the opinion of the vice president of the Senate, it should be the secretary who takes the responsibility of heading the list: “For me, the leader of the party should make the list leader, not Vannacci”. The reason is rather obvious, but it should still be remembered: “He’s the last one to arrive”. But if Salvini didn’t want to present himself as leader of the list, who should do so as a worthy replacement for him? “For those who have been in the League for a while, that’s my opinion.” In short, the negotiation is ongoing and there is still nothing defined and definitive, as also clearly certified by Centinaio. “I don’t know if we’ll nominate him, he’s talking regarding it with Salvini, and he will be the one who gives the pass to the lists.” But Salvini has a hot potato in his hands, because in any case he would end up displeasing someone. The blanket is short, there is little time left for the elections and the leader of the League is facing a crucial crossroads. Giving up that possible nest egg of extra votes brought as a gift by Vannacci, so as to maintain the balance within the party but at the risk of being overtaken in consensus by Forza Italia. Or dare, risk everything with Vannacci. The impression is that the knot will be untied shortly.
