“Shame and shame of the Municipality!”
 – 2024-04-15 08:05:34

Stormy developments, with an avalanche of reactions on the part of the donors of the Folk Art Museum of Patras, are brought by yesterday’s revelations by “P” regarding the moving-parody of the historical exhibits by… “volunteers of the Municipality of Patras” and without the appropriate specifications for the transfer of museum material.

Already three of the testators, speaking to “Peloponnisos” newspaperexpress the their outrage for the insulting treatment of the Museum’s rare archive and make it clear that they intend to ask the Municipality to return the borrowed exhibits!

“THEY ALSO MAKE US… CULTURAL – LEFTISTS!”

The renowned haute couture meter Nikos Apostolopoulosspeaking to “P”, overflows with rage:

LISTEN TO THE AUDIO

“My mother had given me many things from the shop that my father Ilias ran in Markato. We did not offer them to receive this treatment. They basically belong in the family. We made them available for a specific purpose: For for the people to enjoy them and for the new generation to get to know the tradition, history and folklore of our country. So the Municipality cannot throw them around. In a dire state, as I saw, without packaging, abandoned on the pavement. This is a disgrace and shame of the Municipality!

In fact, it clarifies that his sisters will go to the Municipality today to ask for their family’s exhibits back: “This attitude of the Municipality insults our dignity. This abuse of power and the arbitrariness of the Municipality is something scary!

Who decides in this Municipality? Who are they; Do they think that Patras is their hometown, their home? Do they decide and command? And do they also make us the leftists, the cultists? These things are a shame! And the mayor is also a scientist. What to say; Science does not do cultivation, nor the social background of each. Education does it…”.

“RETURN TO US IMMEDIATELY”

From his side, Dimitris Avramis, owner of the historic (since 1911) homonymous wax shopwhich has become a preserved monument as a store by gazette, claims the return of the company’s files:

«After the publication of “Peloponnisos”, we were informed regarding the dismantling of the Museum and for the transfer of his exhibits to warehouses… of the Technical High School and to VesoMare, without any prior notification or consultation with anyone at all…

So, gentlemen of the Municipality, if you don’t want to use them and you don’t even have the space or I don’t know what else, I want them all returned to the Avramis candle factory immediatelywhere they belong!

According to my file document, my father lent them to you and for a specific purpose… he didn’t give them to anyone… got it?

Students better come here and see them… I reserve all legal rights for the return of the items-tools…

For “some” they may be “old cans” (this was also said) but to me my grandfather’s and father’s tools are family heirlooms that we granted them in good faith, to be used for the “good of the city”… our horror… I’m also waiting for the protocol of receipt of the tools for details…”.

“RESTENTION AND RAGE”

He also contacted “P”. the son of the late hatmaker Dimitris Andrinopoulos, Andreaswho maintained the historic sawmill for 35 years next to the “Pallas” cinema and then in the portico of Kanakari:

“We have shocked by the report of “Peloponnisos”! It has overwhelmed us indignation, sadness, but also rage! We never expected this great material, which we offered in memory of our father, to have this outcome and treatment by the Municipality of Patreon! When our father died and we closed the sawmill in 1991, various professionals offered us a lot of money to sell the tools and machinery. We preferred to allocate them for the creation of the Folk Art Museum of Patras. And now we find that all this great file has gone out into the street!

My father’s sawmill was the last one operating in the whole of Greece! And it has enormous historical and folkloric value. It is unthinkable that a municipality treats it in this disparaging way!”.

Mr. Andrinopoulos emphasized that he will wait for the developments to decide on his next moves: “We offered it so that the city might see it and not for them to close it in a warehouse. Maybe somewhere else, in another city, if we need to make it available, they will appreciate it more…”.
