Veteran basketball players Patty Mills and Joe Ingles have been called up to strengthen the Australian national basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The two NBA basketball players are expected to improve the achievements of the Boomers who won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Miami Heat guard Mills and Orlando forward Magig Ingles are among the 10 NBA players on Australia’s 22-man national team roster, which will be trimmed to 12 ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics in July.
Australian national team coach Brian Goorjian also called up a number of young players, one of whom was Johnny Murphy, who performed impressively with Kansas in the NCAA event which made him move up the list of players entering the NBA draft list.
However, Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons is confirmed to be absent due to a back injury.

“We are actively monitoring Australian players in various international leagues in the United States (US), Europe and Asia as well as in domestic leagues. We are optimistic regarding the potential of this team,” said Gorjian.
“The complexity of international tournaments like the Olympics is that you only have a short time to prepare. Therefore, you have to identify and implement a style of play that can be adapted quickly,” he continued.
