Parliamentarian Hanan Atrekin, a member of the Parliamentary Team for Authenticity and Modernity in the House of Representatives, called on the government to spare citizens and their property from the risks and damages resulting from climate change.
In a written question addressed to Interior Minister Abdel-Wafi Laftit, the parliamentarian stated, “Our country has recently experienced strong winds that uprooted everything it found in front of it, endangering individuals’ lives and causing severe damage to property.”
Atrekin added, “This phenomenon has occurred in many cities, such as on highways, where cases of the collapse of huge signs placed on the sides of the roads and electrical poles have been documented,” highlighting that “this phenomenon, which is part of the implications of climate change, questions the safety standards followed, regarding how to place them.” Columns, advertising screens, huge signs, traffic signs and signaling.”
The same spokeswoman confirmed that the matter now “requires the development of a new book of responsibilities regarding the issue, which must be taken into account by all those involved (the Ministry of Equipment, territorial groups, private individuals…),” wondering regarding the measures that will be taken to overcome this phenomenon and provide safety and reassurance for citizens and their property.
This comes at a time when the Ministry of Equipment and Water called on all road users to exercise more caution and caution, following the warning bulletin issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, which expects strong winds and dust to fly in a number of regions on Monday and Tuesday.
