SYRIZA PS of Corinth, in the context of the preliminary elections for the nomination of the party’s MEP candidates that will be held throughout Greece on Sunday, April 14, organized on Friday, April 12, at the Labor Center of Corinth, an event for the presentation of its candidates Region of Peloponnese.

The event was attended by Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, a member of the Political Secretariat, the Central Committee and the Executive Office of SYRIZA PS, who spoke regarding the stakes of the European elections and their great political importance, not only for the European course of our country, but also for the internal political rearrangements and developments that the election result will trigger.

Greetings were delivered by SYRIZA MPs of Corinth Giorgos Psychogios, Argolis Giorgos Gavrilos and Arcadias Giorgos Papailiou, who pointed out the particularities of the Peloponnese Region, one of the regions least financed by European funds in our country and in Europe, and the special importance for the region of the European policies that have already or are to be established in the European Union, especially in the field of agricultural policy.

The six candidates presented to the members and friends of SYRIZA PS not only their personal professional and social journey, but also the reasons that made them take the decision to participate in this pioneering process for the establishment of the European Ballot of SYRIZA PS. A process where, for the first time in Greece, the members and friends of a party decide directly and democratically with their vote on who they wish to be included in the party’s European Ballot.

The six candidates in the Peloponnese Region are Anastasios (Tassos) Xydis, Agricultural Engineer – Sales Executive, Aikaterina Priftakis, Lawyer, Aristides (Aris) Skourtis, Retired Bank Clerk and Journalist, Dimitris Stavropoulos, Financial Analyst, Konstantinos Tsoronis, Private Employee and Georgios Farantos, Lecturer at the University of Western Attica – Labor Inspector.

Anastasios Xydis – Agronomist TE – Sales Executive

He was born on 6/27/1975 in Athens and is a permanent resident of Corinth, originally from Agios Vasilios Corinthia.
He is married to Georgia Balafa (philology teacher) and has two children, Katerina, a first-year student at the School of Chemical Engineering, Technical University of Crete, and Michalis, a high school student.
He is an agronomist graduated from ATEI Agricultural Technology, Department of Farm Management.
He graduated from the Open University of Cyprus Department of Organization and Business Administration with a master’s degree in Business Administration MBA.
He speaks English.

Professionally, he is a sales executive in a company active in the field of agricultural supplies.
Professor in public Vocational Training Institutes DIEK.
Former President of the Association of Cooperative Employees of the Prefecture of Corinth.
Member of the Panhellenic Union of Graduates of Technological Education of Geotechnicians PEPTEG.

Ekaterina Priftaki – Lawyer

He comes from Sparta Laconia. She studied Law at the Democritus University of Thrace and Business Administration and Leadership & Management in Melbourne, Australia.
For a number of years he maintained a law office in Athens, as a member of the Athens Bar Association. She was Director of Molao Hospital and Deputy Director of Sparta Hospital. Now, as a Greek Diaspora, she works in a large Australian law firm in Melbourne. At the same time, he provides Consulting services to a company based in Melbourne with the aim of facilitating the connection of Diaspora Expatriates with services and professionals in Greece through a digital platform.
He speaks three foreign languages ​​English, French and Serbo-Croatian.

Aristidis (Aris) Skourtis – Retired bank employee and Journalist

He was born and raised in Psari Corinthia.

He is a senior bank executive and journalist. He has studied Economics and Journalism.
He worked at the “ZOI” Publishing House, while for 34 consecutive years he worked at the Emporiki Bank of Greece. At the same time, he worked as an editor for the magazines “IKONES, “EGO”, “PANORAMA” and “ETHNOS TIS KYRIAKIS”, covering free reporting, cultural and political, while he has published numerous articles and political texts. At Emporiki Bank, he was a Branch Manager for the last eight years.
He participated in the process of conversion/transition from the Drachma to the Euro, as he was also in charge of the International Conference of Gastroenterologists, which was held in Greece.
His engagement with politics begins earlier, through Citizens’ Groups of the Left.
He was a candidate for Member of Parliament of Corinth with PASOK in 2015.
Today he is a member of SYRIZA-PS OM Sikyonia.

Dimitris Stavropoulos – Financial analyst

Originally from Messinia and raised in Luxembourg, he studied law in London where he began his professional career.
He then moved to finance where he works as a financial analyst. His legal training, combined with the daily friction with the financial market in the largest economic center of the continent, are a guarantee of the representation of the Greeks in the capital of Europe.
It aims to promote targeted anti-punctuation policies, policies to create equal opportunities for young people and to ensure the labor rights of farmers and workers.

Konstantinos Tsoronis – Private Employee

He was born in 1975, grew up and lives in Kalamata. He is a chemist specializing in food safety and olive oil technology. He has over fifteen years of experience in the food industry and education and has been professionally involved in the field of olive oil from the olive mill to blending and standardization.
He holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in food safety and quality management, as well as a University degree in organoleptic evaluation of olive oil from the University of Jaén.
He has been Municipal Councilor of the Municipality of Pylos-Nestoros (2014-2019) and coordinator of the Agricultural Policy Department of the SYRIZA Prefectural Committee of Messinia (2018-2021).

Georgios Farantos – Lecturer at the University of Western Attica – Labor Inspector

Was or is:
Member of SYRIZA-PS of Arcadia with participation in all the social struggles of the Peloponnese,
candidate Councilor of the “Peloponnisos First” Regional Group (M. Makaris), Head of the health group, Representative of the press N.E. SYRIZA PS Arcadia,
