“On the journeys of memory, denialist initiatives” –

«It is truly sad that the Municipality of Rome transforms the journeys of remembrance, dedicated to the martyrs of the Foibe and to the Italian victims of the exodus from Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia into a denialist initiative». This was declared by the president of the Forza Italia senators, Maurizio Gasparri, regarding the controversies relating to some stages of the commemorative trips for the students. «In the path, in fact, that the students will face in the next few days, alongside the necessary stages, there will be moments dedicated to those who with terrorist actions and contributing to the massacre of Italians are certainly not part of those stages to which the journeys of remembrance should be dedicated. The initiative of the Municipality of Rome and the decision, which cannot fail to be attributed to Mayor Gualtieri, to transform an important initiative in this way is truly to blame. Denialism regarding the foibe – he underlines – evidently continues to emerge. And those who refused to collaborate with this distortion implemented by the Municipality of Rome did well. Respect must be given to the Italian victims of the exodus and the Italians massacred by the Slavic communists. Overturning the truth of history and the purpose of these cultural journeys is truly a shameful choice.”
