Tawfiq Aed Fawaz Hussein, 25, was shot Monday at the Zeita Junction north of Tulkarem, Palestinian officials said.
“He was wounded in the leg and the occupying forces left him to bleed to death in an ambulance for more than an hour and a half,” the ministry said in a statement.
The Israeli military, contacted by AFP, said that TAF Hussein was suspected of being an accomplice to Palestinian militant Muhammad Jabar, who was killed by troops on Monday.
According to the military, Jabar had a gun with an improvised explosive device and was preparing to carry out a suicide attack in Israel.
Jordan, which in 1994 became the second Arab country following Egypt to recognize neighboring Israel and sign a peace treaty with it, did not immediately comment.
A Palestinian security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said TAF Hussein, who hails from Ruseifah in Jordan, had come to visit relatives in the Nur Shams refugee camp near Tulkarem.
Since 1967, the Israeli-occupied West Bank has seen a sharp increase in violence since the war in the Gaza Strip began.
The war erupted following the October 7 attack on southern Israel by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
At least 427 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the occupied West Bank since October 7, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
