Morena is left without a candidate for the mayor of Colima

COLIMA, Colima.- The Coalition Let’s Continue Making History in Colima was left without a candidate to compete for the state capital following this Saturday night, minutes before the formal start of the campaigns, the Municipal Council of Colima did not approve the application of Viridiana Valencia Vargas for not having officially proven that he has resided in the municipality for at least three years.

During a virtual session, the municipal councilors gave the green light to five of the six candidates nominated and only left out the Morenista for not complying with the minimum residence time.

In the 2021 election Valencia Vargas won a seat in the local Congress but on that occasion he voted in the municipality of Tecomán, which is located in the district that he represented in the Legislative Branch, but it was not until 2023 that he changed the address on his identification card. voter and for that reason the Colima city council issued him a proof of residence that does not prove the three years that the electoral law requires at least.

Although the licensed representative and former state delegate of the federal government’s social programs went to the state Electoral Court to challenge the city council’s decision, the resolution did not favor her; Even so, the coalition made up of Morena, the Green Party and the Labor Party, requested her registration as a candidate before the electoral authority, which finally decided to deny it.

Given the above, the Morenista accused the interference of the PRI, PAN and MC parties, whom she accused of having looted the state and resisting losing privileges.

“I will continue defending the movement for the transformation of Colima. I understand that the problem is not legal but moral and that those who resist my running for mayor of the capital use all the force at their disposal to deny me the right that I have proven with all the strength of the evidence. “They are afraid of losing their privileges,” he said in a video posted on his social networks.

She affirmed that she will challenge the decision of the Municipal Electoral Council of Colima and will campaign together with the candidates of her coalition for local and federal councils in her capacity as coordinator of the 4T in the municipality of Colima, asking for the vote for Claudia Sheinbaum while resolves your challenge.
