The opening of the new work of the well-known artist Georgia Paraschi entitled “Topographies” will take place on Friday, April 12 at 8 pm.

THE Liana Zoza, curator of the exhibition, writes: “The work of the visual artist Georgia Parashis has a continuity and a consistency that is easy to distinguish through the course of her work. In the new section of her works entitled “Topographies” she turns her gaze to the surrounding space, while until now form was the dominant element in her works.

Fantastic and enigmatic environments create in the viewer the desire to stand in front of them, giving him those elements that will lead him to explore the images that make up the places that he himself might either have already visited or would like to, inviting him at the same time to create his own big picture.

The creation of “Topographies” is the result of both an internal search and the observation of a daily life that changes around us at a rapid pace, imposing a personal sanctuary for everyone.

Although the colors of the works might be characterized as purely Greek, nevertheless in combination with the forms and the identity of their elements, they acquire a global identity independent of places and habits. After all, topography records the elements of a place in such a way that they can be transferred intact and unaffected anywhere.

Minimalist forms enclose or work in combination with elements such as stairs in variations playing dynamically with the alternation of images breaking down the rules in a dynamic and at the same time subversive game between form and color.

The absence of human existence works suggestively for the viewer, putting him in the process of finding himself in the center of the space and trying to work experientially and within these “Topographies” from the emotions he receives and giving him the opportunity of metamorphosis in real life.

Bill Watterson, well-known American cartoonist and creator of the Calvin and Hobbes comics, had said to his hero: “Life is like topography, Hobbes. There are summits of happiness and success, flat stretches of boring routine and valleys of frustration and failure”.

For her part, the visual artist Georgia Parashi, says characteristically: “Balancing between the invisible and the visible. “Images” are influenced by memories, dreams, events, desires. A dive into the unconscious, where myths, illusions, ambitions dissolve. A dive into the images of my place, its seas and its light. Searching for the essence by removing all the unnecessary. Stripping the landscape of the elements of the familiar, I let it clothe itself with a spiritual aura, a deeper aura”.
