MEXICO CITY.- Guadalupe Taddeipresident advisor of the National Electoral Institute (INE), and three other counselors will have a “VIP room” on the set of the first Presidential Debate 2024despite previous agreements that only the candidates, one assistant for each and moderators would be on site.
As it became known, it was Guadalupe Taddei herself who requested the installation of a micro room on the set following she and three other counselors insisted on being present at the Presidential Debate.

This is despite the fact that the rules for the 2024 Presidential Debate indicated that only one assistant of the candidates may be present on the set.
Originally, it was agreed that only the candidates, a small number of collaborators and technical staff would enter to broadcast the Presidential Debate, but the presiding counselor would have requested the room and invited four more counselors.
In the “VIP room”, installed in front of the stage one meter away, will be Guadalupe Taddei, Norma Irene de la Cruz, Rita Bell Lopez y Jorge Montaño.

Following Guadalupe Taddei’s request for a room on the INE set for the Presidential Debate, some councilors criticized her actions.
The counselor Carla Humphreya member of the Debates Commission, regretted the decision and considered that his colleagues should have appealed to the ‘sensitivity of each one’.
Some representatives of the political parties and candidates considered that the councilors would be receiving “VIP treatment.”
Counselor Rita Bell López defended her presence by saying that they decided to enter the set to “give certainty and be vigilant of the punctual development of the debate” and indicated that measures were taken to guarantee that they would not distract the candidates or the citizens.
