So far, the highest air temperature recorded in Latvia on April 9 was +22.8 degrees in 2018 in Daugavpils. If the temperature reaches +25 degrees, the previous year’s record of +25 degrees will be broken by eight days.
There will be light winds, so sea breezes and much cooler weather are expected along the coast, with fog possible. The air temperature on the sea coast will fluctuate around +10 degrees.
Overall the day will be quite sunny. There is a slight chance of rain and thunder clouds.
In Riga, the sun will only be covered by clouds from time to time; no precipitation is expected. On the coast of the sea bay, fog is possible and the air temperature there can drop below +10 degrees, but in the southern part of the city the air will warm up to +23 degrees. There will be a light wind of variable direction.
The weather is determined by an area of low pressure.
At the same time, on Tuesday morning there was a large amount of dust from the Sahara at an altitude of several kilometers.
According to the European Union’s Copernicus program, the predicted concentration of dust over Latvia at an altitude of three kilometers reaches approximately 100 micrograms per cubic meter, such a large amount of desert sand rarely reaches Latvia.
At the same time, there is almost no dust on the ground, so the air quality remains good. During the day, air quality may deteriorate in some places – mainly in cities – due to weak winds and local pollution.
