The Tuzos of Pachuca had a field day yesterday, in the first leg of the Quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup and crushed Herediano of Costa Rica 0-5 as visitors. With this result, those led by coach Guillermo Almada are practically in the Semifinals and will face the Águilas del América, in a match that is predicted to be highly emotional. The great figure of the game was the Venezuelan Salomón Rondón, who scored three goals.
Pachuca had a perfect match and was master of the match, which took place in Tica lands. The second leg of this tie will be next Wednesday at the Hidalgo Stadium.
The game was just beginning and following 3 minutes King Salomón Rondón already had the first goal for Pachuca. Ten minutes later, a great overflow by the Hidalgo offensive once more left Rondón in a position to make it 0-2. In less than 30 minutes the Tuzos had already sentenced the tie.
For the complementary part, Alexei Domínguez scored a resounding 0-3 at just 55”. The Ticos of Mexican coach Héctor Altamirano had no way of reacting and five minutes later, once more a brutal blow, Salomón Rondón’s hat-trick arrived and the fourth goal of the night, for the blue and white.
But for Pachuca, there was no bad fifth and in the 90th minute, Alán Bautista, thanks to an extraordinary counterattack, made the final score 0-5, with a superb shot inside the six-yard box. The Tuzos had a great night.
