Crews Clear Key Bridge Wreckage: A Step Towards Recovery

Progress continues to be made in the recovery operation at the site of the Key Bridge collapse, thanks to clear skies and favorable weather conditions. This enabled crews to work diligently towards the clearing of the wreckage. Recently, FOX 45 had the opportunity to visit the site and observe the up-close view of the followingmath.
Governor Wes Moore expressed his appreciation for the remarkable work of the team during a press conference, stating, “We’ve got a long road ahead of us, but I’m proud to say that we keep moving forward.”
The recovery process involves removing containers from the Dali to gain access to the affected part of the bridge. Governor Moore noted that approximately 178 containers need to be relocated, with 34 containers successfully moved so far. The complexity and dangers associated with this task were highlighted by Moore, who emphasized that even an empty container on the vessel can weigh over one and a half tons.
Alongside the container removal, large sections of the steel bridge have also been lifted out of the water, illustrating the extensive efforts in progress.
