107 days before the start of the Summer Olympics in Paris, the organizers are well on schedule. The preparations are well advanced, many competition venues have already been completed and more tickets will be available shortly, said the head of the games’ organisation, Tony Estanguet, on Wednesday in Paris. “We are ready, we are on the home stretch.”

The infrastructure required for the Games was completed in time; the interior of the Olympic Village and the construction of the competition venues at the Eiffel Tower and the Place de la Concorde are currently underway. 7.9 million tickets have already been sold for the games, 63 percent to sports enthusiasts from France. Exactly 100 days before the start of the Summer Games on April 17th at 10 a.m., another 250,000 tickets for all sports genres and price categories would go on sale.

The Olympic organizers are also optimistic regarding the grand opening ceremony on July 26th. For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, the celebration will not be organized in a stadium, but in the heart of the host city. Around 160 boats will take the teams with several thousand athletes on a six-kilometer route across the Seine along the most beautiful sights from the Pont d’Austerlitz to the Trocadero. Estanguet said 326,000 spectators might watch the spectacle from the banks of the Seine. 45,000 police officers are supposed to ensure the safety of everyone involved on this day.
