FC Brugge will play a European quarter-final for the first time since 2015 with the reception of PAOK in the first leg of the Conference League quarter-finals on Thursday at 9 p.m. at the Jan Breydel stadium. A competition where Bjorn Meijer and his teammates dream of the final.
“The Conference League has always been a goal for us. When we get to the quarter-finals, we realize that we have a chance to do something beautiful. We obviously dream of playing in the final but I think that is the case for all the teams present in the quarterfinals“, said Bjorn Meijer this Wednesday at a press conference.
The people of Bruges, however, do not want to look down on an opponent who seems affordable on paper. “They have Greece in mind. It is a team which has excellent individual qualities and has achieved good results in Europe. We should therefore not see ourselves already in the semi-finals. We are fully focused on PAOK.“
The Dutch full-back, 21, also commented on his personal situation, he who is living his second season in the Bruges jersey.
“I also heard that I was having a worse season. I have the feeling that it’s mainly because I’m scoring less and giving fewer assists this season (1 goal and 2 assists in 35 matches, editor’s note). However, I have made a lot of progress in certain details, things that you don’t see from the outside.“
