Anthony Blinken will visit Guatemala within the framework of the Ministerial Meeting of the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection.

The United States ambassador to Guatemala, Tobin Bradley, in statements to the press this Tuesday, April 9, reported that the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, will visit the country on May 7 to discuss migration issues.
He added that the issue of migration is very important for the United States and for the entire region, since regional challenges must be thought regarding with regional solutions.
He highlighted that they are willing to work hand in hand with Guatemala and other countries to reduce irregular migration and find ways for people to live in their countries or where they need work legally and with dignity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala reported that Anthony Blinken’s visit will take place within the framework of the Ministerial Meeting of the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection.
The United States has shown its support for Guatemala on the issue of migration and proof of this is that last March, the administrator of USAID, Samantha Power, met with President Bernardo Arévalo to discuss the partnership between that institution and Guatemala.
Spokesperson Jessica Jennings said at the time that the collaboration continues as part of the US strategy to address the root causes of migration.

The Minex expanded information and indicated that on May 7, 2024, Guatemala will host the “Ministerial Meeting of the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection”, said event brings together 22 countries from the American Continent and international organizations, with the objective of generating a dialogue that allows structuring actions to achieve humane and comprehensive migration management at the regional level.
The meeting will feature the participation of ministers/secretaries of Foreign Affairs of the countries that adhered to the Los Angeles Declaration, representatives of international organizations, as well as experts at the regional level, in order to explore joint strategies in accordance with the principles and objectives contained in the aforementioned Declaration.
