A new home renovation program is being launched for the energetic modernization of family houses built before 1990. With a co-payment of HUF one million, a maximum subsidy of HUF 6 million can be used, half of which is an interest-free loan and the other half is a non-refundable subsidy.
The support can be used for properties that have piped gas, an additional condition is that the building is used in a way of life.
The state program can be used for the replacement of doors and windows, the modernization of the hot water system, the thermal insulation of buildings and the replacement of gas boilers. It is a very important expectation that as a result of all these investments, a 30 percent reduction in energy consumption will be achieved for the affected properties.
The interest-free loan must be repaid within eight years, and families who win the tender can expect installments between HUF 26,000 and HUF 35,000. It is expected that 20,000 family houses will be energetically upgraded in the program.
The program is implemented with pre-financing from the domestic budget, the government plans to use additional resources within the Recovery and Resilience Fund (RRF) for investments improving energy efficiency, so this may later also extend to the modernization of public buildings.
