Berri: We will not enable Israel to drag us into open war

Lebanon – Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri stressed today, Monday, “not to be drawn into the open war that Israel is trying to lure Lebanon into.”

Berri said, “The unprecedented Israeli military escalation once morest Lebanon comes in the context of luring us into an open war that we will not be drawn into. We will continue to exercise restraint and work to contain the Israeli aggression, which reached its peak in the last two days, by turning most of the towns and villages located south of the Litani into land.” Burnt, uninhabited.”

Berri added that the Israeli escalation will not lead to provocation or luring us into taking a decision to expand the war.

This comes as the Israeli army announced the end of a phase of preparations for the possibility of launching a military operation on the Lebanese border.

Since October 8, the border between Lebanon and Israel has witnessed intermittent clashes between Lebanese factions and Israeli forces since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, as Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah announced that the Lebanon front is a front “in support of Gaza.”

On April 5, the Amal Movement, headed by Berri, announced the killing of 3 of its members, along with others from its allied Lebanese factions, in an Israeli raid that targeted a site in southern Lebanon.

In this regard, the United Nations and UNIFIL warned on Monday of the dangers of expanding the scope and scale of confrontations in southern Lebanon.
