Hello.
It seems that we live in a world where information is publicly available, it is not difficult to find out how and what works. In a detailed material, he described MegaMarket’s strategy, in which the site subsidizes the sales of most goods in order to achieve an increase in turnover, and at the same time burn out the market for direct competitors.
The usual bacchanalia began in the comments, where people noted that all this was at least untrue. Here are a few typical comments:
“At the megamarket, almost everything is 10-20% more expensive than the same WB and Ozone. It’s unclear what kind of discounts and benefits we’re talking regarding.”
“Almost everything is cheap and with big discounts at the megamarket from scammers and scammers. You place an order, following a while they cancel it or offer to switch to the messenger. I’m disappointed in the megamarket, it’s strange that it doesn’t fight or block such sellers, other sites are at least trying to fight this.”
“Who was the author who burned out the market last time? MTS? And what is the result? Has MTS taken over the universe? Now I looked at the prices for iPhones, well, normal prices, at the market level (including bonuses). When I bought a phone, the situation was the same – the market price subject to the fuss with bonuses. I don’t understand the prices of Samsung, sorry, but there is a suspicion that all prices that are less than the traditional x2 are just a red rag for the author.”
“It looks a lot like a custom article. There is no such price on the resource.”
Everything and everyone is mixed into one heap, and there is no attempt to figure out what can be bought at discounts, and what is definitely not worth looking for. I’ll start with a simple statement: at MegaMarket (as well as at Ozone, WB and other sites) there are no permanent discounts, they simply do not exist! In order to buy this or that product profitably, you will have to make at least minimal effort.
The old buyer strategy, when a person does the work of searching for prices on different sites, no longer works. You can look at prices in online stores, in large federal chains, find the best and lowest for yourself, but it will not be effective and the most interesting. The question is that prices change dramatically depending on the market situation; one week they can be high, the next – low.
For example, in early April, prices for all electronics rise, as there is a moderate shortage in the market in most product categories. The reason is the next round of sanctions, difficulties with paying for goods in China, which are temporary (this is a situation that has been recurring since 2022, it is clear how to deal with it, but it takes 2-4 weeks). Hence the local surge in prices, since suppliers do not have the same competition as in February or March and can count on higher margins. In May, prices will go down from a local surge and roll back by the same 10-20%, depending on the category.
The correct purchasing algorithm today is to search for a good price within a couple of weeks, but not compare prices within one or two days. And this applies to any site without exception. For example, I need a refrigerator of a certain brand, I go to different sites, add the model to my favorites and periodically start looking at prices. It’s interesting that in my case it turned out that among the large stores this model was in Technopark, you might buy it at any time, but the price would be the maximum. It is 184,990 rubles.
From small suppliers you can buy the same refrigerator for cash for regarding 130 thousand rubles. As a rule, you are offered to do this in cash; the guarantee raises many doubts, which might potentially result in a headache – depending on your luck. It should be taken into account that the guarantee also has a cost dimension. I prefer to buy equipment from trusted places.
So, I start looking for prices on different sites and then I see a discount of 45,000 rubles on MegaMarket, I finish with a code of 12,000 rubles and get a price equal to the gray market.
For me, this is a profitable purchase, since I am purchasing a refrigerator at the lowest price on the market, but from a major seller with all warranty obligations. And potentially headache-free. In theory, I might continue to look for a different price and get a discount of another 20-25 thousand rubles.
Is it possible to buy something more profitable than this product is sold on the market? Definitely yes, sales happen from time to time. In December, my friends bought the Galaxy Z Fold5 – an inflated price, but the maximum discount. Seller “MegaMarket”, discount in the form of points that can be spent immediately – 93 thousand rubles from the price of 163,390 rubles. In total, you received the device for 70 thousand rubles. And there was no such price either then or today.
At the same time, it was possible to buy a Tecno Phantom V Fold for 57.5 thousand rubles (at a regular price of 90-100 thousand rubles).
Or get the Galaxy S24 Ultra at the start of sales at a price of regarding 110 thousand rubles, and not 145-160 thousand. Discounts are more than real and are due to the competition of sites for buyers. I cited MegaMarket as an example, but discounts, albeit in smaller volumes, are available everywhere.
Of course, you can fall for scammers who are trying to deceive you. I wrote a separate article regarding this, please read it so as not to get into trouble.
Some sellers who have exclusive products have come up with a simple scheme – they inflate the price on the online platform, but give a discount up to the level of their online store. For example, the Asus ROG Swift 27-inch 360 Hz gaming monitor was available at the time of purchase only from one distributor (140 thousand rubles) or on MegaMarket from him (180 thousand rubles minus 40 thousand rubles discount). And here it doesn’t matter where exactly to buy, the price turns out to be absolutely the same, this is a product that does not have much competition.
Do you want to buy profitably? Get ready to look at discounts and look for them for a couple of months. You can come and buy a product profitably only in one case – if you are lucky. You need to look at prices, and then you can really save. Over the past year, I was able to save a total of up to a million rubles on purchases in various marketplaces, since I was not in a hurry. And I dare to assure you that there are no prices as low as they are during promotions anywhere in the world. Each site is trying to attract buyers, show off and provide discounts from their own pockets. But there are no such discounts non-stop, you have to catch them!
Let me give you one more comment, Artem writes regarding shopping at MegaMarket and shares his experience:
“Some of the commentators do not understand how to get a VERY low price on MM. A conditional product is taken (for example, the recently released Samsung A55). The price for MM for version 8/256 (8/128 sold out yesterday, so I’m operating on the older one) is 44,000 rubles. And this is a plus or minus in the market (although it is often more expensive than the market). Next, wait for a promotional code (for example, 7 from 30,000). And voila – already 37 thousand. And then they return another 20-25 percent to you with Thank You bonuses (at some times up to 50 and above), which, unlike EldoVideo candy wrappers, can be spent not only on their own products without the “Final price” mark, paying only 30 percent of the cost. For example, pay 100 percent on the same MM or refuel your car in large networks. As a result, the cost of the phone is regarding 30,000 rubles. Where else can you get this price?
Regarding scammers and sellers on MM. There is Megamarket itself – you can buy from it without fear. There are large networks such as Citylink, MVideo and Eldorado, which are also subject to discounts. But EldoVideo leaks mostly storefronts through MM, and they often only have storefronts for phones to throw away.
You can take everything. Recently, people were massively buying tires using promotional codes 2 from 6, 2.5 from 8 and 3 from 10, which can be used several times. I recently bought a Sams A54 for 19 thousand. As a result, it turns out to be 30-40 percent cheaper than in other networks. But yes, you need to keep track of promotions and promotional codes.
But this is not just stupid price dumping. This is an ecosystem, the main thing in which is Thank you bonuses, which are the same rubles in many cases.
And plus they now have a simply bomb service, the analogues of which I have not seen – delivery of goods ordered from MM by Samokat courier by clicking in the application. That is, not the usual delivery “they can deliver it within a day,” but by clicking on it, the courier delivers it within 20 minutes following the goods arrive at the distribution center. It’s gorgeous.”
As an followingword
It is important to understand a few simple things in order to save on electronics purchases, I will list what we discussed above:
- Maximum discounts can be obtained on online platforms, but you need to catch them, prices change constantly, no one is waiting for you with your wallet to give the goods as cheaply as possible;
- You need to look for promotional codes, as they allow you to reduce the cost of goods; promotional codes are not difficult to find;
- Add the necessary products to your Favorites, look at the prices, catch the price you need (but don’t outdo yourself, as prices fluctuate in one direction or another);
- You need to understand the situation on the market, there are periods when prices rise (for all goods or a specific category), there is always our resource for this, we constantly write regarding the market and what is happening in it so that you can save money or buy cheaper goods before their price increases;
- Beware of scammers, there are plenty of them on online platforms, be careful (we have told you many times what not to do, remember this).
I don’t know why, but many buyers mistakenly believe that retail chains or online stores are just waiting to sell them goods cheaper. This is wrong! Sales, discounts, and promotions happen, but they don’t last forever and end quickly. They solve very specific problems for sites. Hence the conclusion – keep your nose to the wind, look for favorable prices. And if you have a spare time, then you will definitely find how to save. But if you need to buy a product here and now, then you will most likely spend more money on it. There are no miracles.
And here’s another article to help you regarding what to look for when buying electronics; it is more important than ever today.
