Palestinians prefer Turkish products over their international counterparts

Palestine – Palestinian demand for Turkish products is increasing in the markets of occupied East Jerusalem, due to their quality and competitive prices.

Hussam Al-Harbawi, owner of a store and bakery in the Wadi Al-Jouz area in East Jerusalem, said: “There are many Turkish products in our market, such as canned goods, biscuits, fruit juices, and cleaning products.”

Al-Harbawi added: “Turkish goods are of very high quality and their prices are also reasonable. The customers who come to us are looking for Turkish products in particular, as they are popular in East Jerusalem and in the West Bank as well.”

He continued: “There are many ways to import Turkish products. Exhibitions are held in Turkey every year and we attend these exhibitions and sign agreements with companies. Then the products arrive to us through the port of Ashdod or through distributors. “Many Turkish companies have distribution agents here.”

For his part, Muhammad Ismail Musa Abu Qasim, a store owner in the West Bank, said, “The most important reason for the presence of many Turkish products in his store is the boycott of Israeli products since the first intifada.”

Abu Qasim pointed out that he has his own products, adding: “The products that we prefer following our products are Turkish, Jordanian, and Malaysian products.”

In turn, Amjad Al-Tabakhi, who owns a clothing store in the city of Hebron in the West Bank, said that he named his store “Azl” because of his admiration for the Turkish television series “Azl.”

Al-Tabakhi confirmed that most of the products in his store are Turkish made, indicating that the Turkish product has international quality and a competitive price.
