The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and other Arab countries have officially announced that Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will be observed on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The believers in the Gulf are celebrating this short festival following completing 30 Ramadan.

Abdullah bin Sultan bin Awad Al Nu Aimi, Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Committee, announced Tuesday, April 9, 1445 AH as the last day of Ramadan and Wednesday, April 10, as the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
Saudi Arabia
The first day of Eid-ul-Fitr will be Wednesday, April 10, as the crescent moon is not sighted in Saudi Arabia either. This means that Ramadan will last 30 days in the country this year. The Royal Court issued a statement announcing that Wednesday, April 9, would be the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr, with Ramadan ending on Tuesday, April 9.
Qatar
Qatar also announced that the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be Wednesday, April 10, as the crescent moon will not be sighted on Monday. The Crescent Sighting Committee of the Ministry of Auqaf and Islamic Affairs has confirmed that Tuesday, April 9, 2024 will be the last day of Holy Ramadan. The committee met on the evening of April 8, 2024 to see the crescent moon in the month of Shawwal but might not confirm its sighting.
Kuwait and Bahrain
Kuwait and Bahrain have announced that the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr will be Wednesday, April 10, as the crescent moon is not sighted on Monday. Ramadan lasted 30 days this year in both countries.
Oman
In Oman, the main committee in charge of the survey for Shawwal crescent sighting will meet on Tuesday evening, April 9, 2024 at the General Office of the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs. The ministry has called on citizens and residents to cooperate with field teams and sub-committees to investigate the crescent sightings in their respective provinces and governorate offices. Unlike other Gulf countries, Oman started Ramadan a day late.
Egypt
In Egypt, the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday announced by Dar Al Ifta, the country’s body for religious orders, will begin on Wednesday. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has also announced a six-day holiday for public employees from Tuesday, April 9 to Sunday, April 14, 2024, including the weekend, to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
Other Arab countries
Lebanon, Yemen, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine and many other Arab countries announced the start of Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday. The announcement was made through a televised address by Grand Mufti Muhammad Hussein of Palestine, a statement by Chief Rabbi Sheikh Hisham bin Mahmud of Tunisia, and a statement by Abdul Latif Deryan of Lebanon. Yemen’s Ministry of Endowment and Guidance also released a statement confirming the start of Eid al-Fitr.
