The lack of clarity of the regulations for the creation of aggregate extraction wells and the limitations of electrical feasibility in several areas of Ñuble, is hindering the execution of works as a result of the higher construction costs that imply the rental of electrical generators to replace the lack of energy and the transfer of aggregates from distant points of the projects.
This was explained by the vice president of Management of the Chilean Chamber of Construction Ñuble, Sebastián Godoy, who explained that “the value of infrastructure works that require the incorporation of aggregates, such as construction of buildings, authorization of land for the construction of social housing, road construction, among others, becomes more expensive due to this increase, which must be taken into account when applying for a tender, since the raw material to develop these projects is aggregate, and the production cost increases by up to 100% because we also have to replace the energy with generators.”
These and other concerns were expressed in the meeting held by the union’s board of directors with the Seremi of Energy, Dennis Rivas, who shared the details of the electrical transmission projects that are being developed in the region to provide electrical feasibility to vast areas of the region. region where the infrastructure lag keeps numerous investment projects frozen.
In this regard, the head of Ñuble Energy announced the work they are promoting to overcome this delay, which is framed in the Ñuble Special Plan, which aims to advance in the completion of urgent transmission works. Likewise, he indicated that the energy demand study, requested by Minister Diego Pardow, will characterize and project the region’s demand. This study will be announced on April 19 with a first delivery of the instrument, and later, following collecting observations, it will be refined and the final result will be delivered in May.
The president of the CChC Ñuble, Ricardo Salman, valued the progress of this study “since it is necessary to project the energy demand that the region will have in regarding 20 years, since there are companies that want to develop projects in places where there is no feasibility , greatly delaying regional growth and the investment necessary to stimulate employment and local economic development.”
Transmission works
Regarding the transmission works in progress, the seremi reported that, currently, the expansions of the Santa Elvira and Montenegro substations are in the process of work, which will come into operation in July and December of this year, respectively.
The expansion of the Santa Elvira Substation represents an investment of US$5 million and will have a power of 50 MVA, which will also serve to supply the new Regional Hospital. As for the Montenegro Substation, the second stage will be completed, corresponding to the 66 kV Line from Montenegro to Lucero Substation, thus alleviating the great congestion on the 66 kV Charrúa-Chillán line.
