The horror film directed by Hadrah Daeng Ratu with Rapi Films, entitled Approaching Death, will be shown in Indonesian cinemas starting April 30 2024.

“This film tells the story of a woman, a mother who struggles alone to support her family even in the wrong way and endangers her children. Approaching Death will show a horror that is different from Rapi Films’ previous works,” said producer Sunil G Samtani in an official statement, Wednesday (3/4).

The film Approaching Death tells the story of a mother named Sekar, who tries to support her three children alone by opening a food stall. Lately, he has been worried because his merchandise always goes stale shortly following the food is served.

Sekar then went to meet Mak Ambar, the shaman who installed the ‘penglaris’ in his shop. However, it turned out that Mak Ambar had died.

Since then, the genie who has been helping him demands his life until Sekar is possessed every night. The three children tried to get treatment, but this attempt actually threatened the lives of them and their family.

Approaching Death has released a two-minute trailer showing the main character, Sekar (Shareefa Daanish), performing a ritual with the shaman Mak Ambar (Dewi Pakis).

The next scene shows Sekar’s anxiety because the food in his shop is being protested by buyers who complain that the food is stale and smells bad. Magical figures also began to appear in his shop.

The scene becomes increasingly tense when Sekar’s figure begins to fall into a trance and behave insanely.

Sekar’s three children, namely Dani (Daffa Wardhana), Ratna (Caitlin Halderman), and Dodi (Shakeel Fauzi Aisy) are shown to be starting to be overwhelmed by their changing mother.

This trailer, which is full of tense scenes, closes with the figure of Sekar injuring himself.

This film was produced by Gope T Samtani, and produced by Rapi Films in collaboration with Sky Media, Legacy Pictures, and Rhaya Flicks.

The screenplay for this film was written by Deni Saputra and stars a number of talented actors, including Shareefa Daanish, Caitlin Halderman, Daffa Wardhana, Shakeel Fauzi Aisy, Ruth Marini, and Michael Olindo. (Ant/Z-1)
