CINEMA OF TOMORROW

This time we are going to talk regarding “Love and Mathematics”, the fifth feature film by the talented Claudia Sainte Luce, who manages to recreate a superfluous and classist world, and the truncated dreams of two adults.

Although “Love and Mathematics”, the fifth feature film by the talented Claudia Sainte Luce, is a commissioned film that was not written by her, it retains some of the qualities of her best films such as “The Unusual Catfishes” and “The Kingdom of God”.

Adriana Pelusi’s script tells the story of Billy (Roberto Quijano), a former member of the Equinoccio youth group, who has become a kind of bossy husband to Lucía (Daniela Salinas), a successful professional who shows off him, her baby and his hateful little dog Carousel as if they were trophies in an exclusive community in Monterrey, where money is synonymous with drug trafficking.

Billy is unhappy with his life, but he doesn’t want to dedicate himself to selling breathing stuffed dogs with his brother, and he feels that his singing career can be revived thanks to his neighbor Monica (Diana Bovio, restrained) who encourages him to follow his dream. .

Sainte Luce manages to recreate a superfluous and classist world, and the truncated dreams of two adults, supported by a solid cast in which Roberto Quijano and Diana Bovio stand out, who following emerging at the Godínez has shown that she is a good actress, that must be followed.

Premiered at the Toronto and Guadalajara festivals, “Love and Mathematics” finally reaches commercial screens.

Fact: Billy is unhappy with his life, but he doesn’t want to dedicate himself to selling breathing stuffed dogs with his brother, and he feels that his singing career can be revived thanks to his neighbor Monica.
