Louis Vuitton creates exceptional trunks for medals and torches – Sport & Society

End of March, Louis Vuitton revealed the Medal trunks and the Malles Torches designed to protect and present the precious symbols of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Le know-how of French luxury put at the service of the celebration of the biggest sporting event in the world.

Already present as Partner Premium gamessupport for French athletes like Antoine Dupont or Léon Marchand, and designer of Olympic and Paralympic medals through the Maison Chaumet, LVMH unveiled last week a new part of its strategy to support preparations for Paris 2024.

In fact, the luxury group chaired by Bernard Arnault presented, on Wednesday March 27, 2024, the trunks made by Louis Vuitton to house the medals and torches for the next Summer Games which will be held in France from July 26 to August 11, 2024 for the Olympic part and from August 28 to September 8, 2024 for the Paralympic part.

Anxious to offer a spectacular setting for these symbols of the planetary event, Louis Vuitton thus ensured the creation of trunks design iconic reminiscent of the trunk-making heritage of the famous House.

Intended to protect and present the medals of the Games, particularly as part of the Parc des Champions which will be installed in the Jardins du Trocadéro (Paris, 16th)THE Medal trunks were designed around the emblematic canvas Monogram.

The latter is also highlighted by the presence of angles and brass clasps identical to those used by Louis Vuitton since the 1850s.

Designed to accommodate up to 468 gold, silver and bronze medals per copy – thanks to a triptych composed of a central section and two side panels revealing an abundance of drawers in matte black leather – the Medal trunks are also a delicate homage to the Hairdressing trunkwhile being decorated with the symbol and lettering specific to the Paris 2024 Games.

In the same spirit of promoting the heritage and know-how of Louis VuittonTHE Malles Torches They also reveal themselves as a finely crafted protective case.

In order to distinguish itself from Medal trunks of which they are nevertheless perfectly complementary, the Malles Torches display the canvas here Checkerboard – flagship signature of Louis Vuitton since 1888 – in addition to having brass angles and clasps.

With a view to Flame Relay and on the occasion of the Games, the trunks thus designed will be able to house the torches whose design was imagined by Mathieu Lehanneur. The torches will then be protected in a case with a rounded niche in its base and at the level of its lid to guarantee optimal support during transport.

At the request of Medal trunksTHE Malles Torches bring a dominant black, the interior being lined with matte leather on which is presented the emblem of Paris 2024 with sometimes the Olympic rings or the Paralympic agitos.
