Starting from Sunday followingnoon, warming is expected in Latvia for a couple of days, but in many places there will be short-term rains, forecasters predict, writes LETA.
On Saturday the sky will be mostly cloudy, with scattered rain and fog expected in places. The center of the cyclone will pass through Latvia, so light to moderate winds will blow in a variable direction. The air temperature at night will not drop below zero, the maximum temperature during the day will range from +5 degrees on some parts of the coast to +12 degrees in Latgale and Selia.
No precipitation is expected on Sunday, the sun will shine through the clouds. At night, with light winds, the minimum air temperature will be -1..+4 degrees, in the south-eastern regions up to +6 degrees. In the followingnoon the air will warm up to +11..+17 degrees, in places in Kurzeme – up to +19 degrees.
At the beginning of next week, short-term rain is expected in many places, heavy rainfall is possible in the northern part of the country, and the likelihood of thunderstorms will increase on Tuesday. The air temperature at night will not drop below +6..+11 degrees; in some areas of the coast the weather will remain slightly cooler. Forecasts of maximum air temperature vary: according to current data from the Global Forecast System, on Tuesday in most parts of the country the thermometer will rise to +20..+24 degrees.
Most likely, on Wednesday a cold atmospheric front will cross Latvia from the west, which will bring coolness, but the air temperature will remain above normal. Rain is also expected in the second half of next week.
Hydrologists predict that river levels will rise in the coming days due to precipitation, and floods are possible in some places.
