NORMAL, Ill. – Junior Tanner Perry shined in the Sunday start as Illinois State picked up the series sweep over Valparaiso, 6-0, on Sunday at Duffy Bass Field.
Perry recorded his fourth win of the season, striking out a season-high 10 Beacons (10-19 overall, 2-7 MVC), as the junior allowed no runs and only two hits over his outing.
The Redbirds (17-11 overall, 7-2 MVC) finished with 12 hits on the followingnoon, including two hits from four batters and a pair of RBIs from senior Auggie Rasmussen.
Scoring Breakdown:
- The Redbirds got on the board first in the bottom of the 1st off a SAC bunt by redshirt junior Judah Morris
- In the 2nd inning, senior Greg Nichols doubled home a pair of Redbirds to make it a 3-0 ball game.
- ILS scored two in the 4th inning off the bat of Rasmussen to increase the lead to 5-0.
- An RBI single from sophomore Luke Lawrence in the 5th inning pushed the score to its final margin, 6-0
