Coordinating MINISTER (Menko) for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy responded to Constitutional Justice Saldi Isra’s question. Saldi asked why President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) most often goes to Central Java (Jateng) to distribute social assistance (bansos).

“If there is an area frequently visited by the President, it is likely that there will be many national strategic projects assigned to that area,” said Muhadjir at the Constitutional Court (MK) Building, Central Jakarta, Friday, April 5 2024.

Muhadjir said that Jokowi’s working visits to regions were not new ahead of the 2024 General Election. This had become a habit for the Head of State.

“I really understand because I have accompanied the President to ensure that his policies are actually delivered in the field,” he said.

According to Muhadjir, there is nothing strange regarding Jokowi’s many visits to Central Java. This activity is seen as Jokowi’s form of ensuring that his programs are on target while listening to feedback from the public.

“This is the end of his leadership, he definitely wants to ensure that his programs are completed and not stalled,” he said.

Previously, Saldi targeted four of Jokowi’s aides. Saldi examined the evidence presented by the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD camps regarding Jokowi’s travel record for distributing social assistance.

“What is the President’s consideration for choosing to visit Central Java more often than other places?” said Saldi.
