This Saturday, April 6, the villages of Mirereni and Combani organized a futari together. A way of symbolizing the peace that has reigned for several weeks between the two villages.

The event is at the initiative of the mayor of the commune, Issilamou Hamada. The prefect, François Xavier Bieuville is also present with his wife. He spoke, declaring in particular that the population must above all think with their heads rather than their fists in a video captured by a futari participant.

If you can think like that, the state will be at your side to support you and ensure that the Republic and Mayotte exist with the development that is due to you. So think regarding the head and the heart and forget the fists.

François Xavier Bieuville.

Except that the futari will degenerate. Individuals outside the event will sow panic.

It seems this Sunday morning that around fifteen young people were fighting not far from there, at the Mirereni bridge.

The elected officials and the prefect were sheltered by the gendarmerie at the MJC of Combani. Tear gas grenades are used to disperse the troublemakers. The situation returned to calm in the evening, the gendarmerie said.

On the Prefect’s return journey to Mamoudzou, the Prefect’s transported escort would have been the target of stone-pelting. No injuries to report.

The prefecture of Mayotte reacted this evening on their Facebook page:

“The prefect went this evening to Tsingoni, to meet the mayor and residents to share a popular foutari and peace. He welcomes and thanks the mayor’s initiative to continue efforts to restore civil peace in his common.

It is deplorable the desire of certain individuals to disrupt these friendly and important events. These actions will be dealt with by law enforcement immediately.

All municipalities and villages in the department will be affected by massive security operations. The prefect reiterates his firm determination in this matter.”

This incident constitutes a disturbance of public order, which is why investigations should begin this evening.
