“All French regions” have finally agreed to implement a “rail pass” reserved for those under 27 this summer, Minister Delegate for Transport Patrice Vergriete told AFP on Wednesday evening.

A rail pass for 49 euros

“That’s 700,000 young people who will be able to benefit from free access to Intercités and TER trains this summer for 49 euros,” added the minister. This is great news for young people. »

However, this experiment is only a “first step”. The government has committed that the system, inspired by a measure applied in Germany, can also be applied in Ile-de-France from 2025 according to it.

The State will cover “80% of the total cost, the regions take 20%”, recalled Mr. Vergriete, while in a first version of the project, the distribution was established at 50-50.
