The formation of the new government (Sonko 1) sparked intense controversy, particularly due to the delay observed following the appointment of the Prime Minister on April 2. For Cheikh Oumar Diagne, member of the “Diomaye President” Coalition, the criticisms addressed to the new regime are “unfounded”.
According to him, it is futile for last-minute opponents to waste their energy on fruitless quarrels. “There will be a lot to say in this country. Let’s wait until the government is in place and the work begins…” he suggests.

He also urges those he describes as “regime slayers” to show common sense by keeping a low profile. “If they were serious, now is not the time to launch attacks and criticisms, it is too early. They should have given the President and his team at least a month to get started. It’s a question of common sense and good manners…” he adds.
Taken up by “Le Quotidien”, Cheikh Oumar Diagne invites them to get to work, stressing that politics is not a profession. For him, they are false opponents, because they were never present during the real confrontations in the streets of the opposition, nor were they imprisoned or mishandled by the police. They are, according to him, armchair opponents, fans of mischief.
