WWE presented Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 (XL) on Saturday, April 6, 2024 live from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show was broadcast on the WWE Network in English and French.
– The Pre-Show for Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 begins with Michael Cole welcoming us and we see wrestlers arriving at the stadium earlier today. The panel is made up of Michael Cole, Big E, CM Punk and Pat McAfee, they host in front of the stadium outside.
– The panel presents the matches of the evening.
– Backstage, Jackie asks Sami Zayn for his comments for tonight. Sami Zayn says today is crazy. We must prepare ourselves for what will happen this evening. Many wouldn’t dare say it on camera, but he’s definitely nervous. It’s the kind of stress that comes when you push yourself to go to war and push your abilities. He is ready to go to war.
– Backstage, Cathy is with Trish Stratus to get her opinion on Becky Lynch versus Rhea Ripley. Stratus says she once faced Becky Lynch in the Steel Cage. Becky is the best she’s ever faced. But she’s never faced Mami, so she can’t talk aside. It will be to see if The Man can defeat Mami. Cathy asks if we’re going to see her once more in WWE. Stratus says you never know.
– Backstage, Cathy asks Judgment Day for their comment that they have less chance of remaining champions following tonight. Damian Priest says they are angry regarding this stupid question. They are the best team on the planet. Nobody can beat them. It’s a joke 5 teams for WrestleMania. Finn Balor says they will remain the champions.
– Backstage, Cathy asks Natalya which match she can’t wait to see. Natalya says this is The Usos’ match since the Hart Dynasty has a long history with them. The match is like Owen versus Bret Hart for tonight.
– Backstage, Kayla asks Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar for their comments on Dragon Lee’s change. Dominik says the strategy remains the same no matter who his old father allies with. Santos Escobar says Rey always turns once morest the people who love him. The strategy is simple, get rid of the LWO.
– The Pre-Show ends with the panel’s final comments.

– Tonight is WWE WrestleMania 40 Night 1, the special show starts with a new intro Then, Now, Forever. The commentators welcome us and we see the wrestlers arriving at the stadium.

– Coco Jones is on stage for the American national anthem.
– Triple H’s music starts and he enters the ring. Triple H says he lives for this. Welcome to a new era, welcome to a new era. welcome to WrestleMania !
– The wrestlers arrive for the first match.
Women’s WWE Word Championship – Singles Match
Becky Lynch vs Rhea Ripley (c)
At the end of the fight, Lynch goes for a Leg Drop from the corner, but Ripley avoids it and applies a Cloverleaf. Lynch resists and wants to grab a cable, but Ripley brings her back to the center of the ring to apply a Leg Lock. Lynch manages to roll up to roll him up and Ripley resists. Ripley goes for her Riptide, but Becky reverses her into a Man Handle Slam to cover her, but Ripley resists two. Ripley avoids a blow and does a Riptide to cover her, but she resists two. Ripley goes up to the corner, but Becky gets back up and knocks her off her feet. Becky goes up to the corner with Ripley to superplex her. Becky goes for her Dis Arm Her, Ripley resists, and lifts Becky on her shoulders. Both fall to the bottom of the ring. Ripley brings her back into the ring and goes to the corner for her Splash to cover her, but Becky resists two. Ripley wants to mount Becky in the corner for a Superplex, but Becky blocks it. Becky wants to do a Man Handle Slam from the corner, but Ripley blocks her and gives her a Riptide once morest the corner and a second Riptide on the ground for the count of three.

#DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs The Awesome Truth (The Miz et R-Truth) vs New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne et Tyler Bate) vs A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory et Grayson Waller) vs The New Day (Kofi Kingston et Xavier Woods) vs The Judgment Day (Finn Balor et Damian Priest) (c)
During the fight, Awesome Truth and DIY made an agreement to each go up on their own to go for the titles. They go up, but Theory and Waller arrive to block them and push them back out of the ring! Waller wins the SmackDown tag team titles for his team. Dunne and Bate tag in and double powerbomb Waller through a ringside ladder!
At the end of the fight, the New Day climbs the ladder. Kofi launches into Senton at the bottom of the ring on all teams. Woods wants to take the RAW titles, but Theory comes back into the action and knocks him out of the ring. Theory climbs the ladder, but Dunne and Butch arrive to stop him. They do their Double Burning Hammer on Theory. Bate and Ciampa climb the ladder, Ciampa gives him a White Noise from the ladder. R-Truth gets up and climbs the ladder, but JD McDonagh comes in and hits him with a Devil Inside. McDonagh pulls Balor up so he can climb the ladder. The New Day comes back to stop Judgment Day and they push McDonagh out of the ring through two tables. Priest tags in and does a Crucifix Bomb on Kofi on a chair. Priest climbs the ladder, but Miz gets back up and climbs with Priest. The two exchange blows up top, Priest gives him a ChokeSlam. Priest gets back on the ladder, but R-Truth pushes the ladder and AAs him on the outside. Truth climbs the ladder and captures the RAW Tag Team Titles.
