Despite having tried various therapies and even medications, nothing seemed to ease his pain. She always seemed positive and continued to fight despite her mental health problem, but one day a psychiatrist told her that “she would never get better.” Diagnosis that devastated her and led her to make this radical decision.
“I was always very clear that if it doesn’t improve, I can’t continue with this,” he told the British media, The Sun, and added: “I don’t want to die, but I can’t live like this.”

Zoraya said that as a result of his illness his life was cut short in many aspects. She tried to pursue a degree in psychiatry and might not finish it because of it.
In the Netherlands, euthanasia has been legal since 2002 and according to the law, a patient qualifies for an assisted death following having exhausted all reasonable treatments and, in turn, must be able to demonstrate that he or she is in “unbearable suffering with no prospects for improvement.”

Therefore, Zoraya, once she made the decision, had to request it and from that moment on, it took two and a half years to approve it and then another 12 months to ensure that it complied with all the legal conditions.
The procedure was agreed for next month. It will be done in the comfort of the living room of your home, with your partner and her cats. According to what she told The Sun, she will be visited by a doctor, who will give her a sedative to relax her body first and then administer medication to stop her heart.

The young woman assured that for her it does not mean losing her soul, but rather it is “a liberation” from the painful life she carries. She, in turn, said that during this long waiting process she never doubted her decision and that she said that if she was rejected, “she would probably do it herself.”
What will the procedure be like?
According to Zoraya, a doctor will visit her in the comfort of her home and will try to create a comfortable environment, eliminating all types of stress.
She will be accompanied by her boyfriend and her two cats. “In a moment he will ask me if I am ready. I’ll take my place on the couch. Once once more he will ask me if I am sure, he will start the process and wish me a good trip,” she explained.

“I don’t want to die, but I can’t live like this,” she confessed sadly but convinced. She also assured that since she did not have much family she decided not to have a funeral and she asked to be cremated and thrown in a “beautiful forest.”
