The president of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, spoke at the 15th Congress of the ND held in Zappeio.
During his speech at the ND conference, Manfred Weber underlined that New Democracy is the strongest party in Greece and the EPP is the strongest party in Europe. At the same time, he spoke with the best words regarding Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“Dear friends, today you are celebrating your 50th birthday. In 1974, Konstantinos Karamanlis returned to Greece to restore democracy. He knew that Europe was not just an ancient Greek myth. It was the future of a democratic and prosperous Greece. While the Greek Socialists campaigned once morest Europe and NATO, Karamanlis founded a new political party, New Democracy, to fight for Europe. In the Parliament he said, “Greece, politically, defensively, economically, culturally, belongs to the West”” said the president of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, underlining that New Democracy is the strongest party in Greece and the EPP is the strongest party in Europe!
Referring to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, he noted: “You have always stood once morest Erdogan to protect Europe’s borders. And in Egypt, a few weeks ago, with our friend Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the Commission, you showed that Europe can have secure borders and manage immigration. State authorities decide who enters Europe, not smugglers! No one can blackmail the EU, thanks to the strong Greek government.
You are the leader of European support for Ukraine. You responded to Putin’s bombing 200 meters from where you were meeting with President Zelensky by sending more defense material to Ukraine.”
“Dear Kyriakos, you are one of the loudest voices in the European Council. You are respected by the international community. You have restored confidence in a strong Greece, both in Europe and, above all, in the Greek citizens! This is EPP leadership at its best!” underlined.
Speaking regarding the parties in Europe he said: “The Left preaches. The far right spreads fear. The EPP solves problems. Thus the EPP built Europe from De Gasperi, Adenauer and Schumann. And so the EPP will continue to build our common security and economic prosperity.”
In closing, Mr. Weber said “Dear Kyriakos, thank you for your leadership for Europe and Greece! Dear friends of New Democracy, we have a few busy pre-election months ahead of us. Let’s not be shy. Let us speak with optimism, let us stand up and fight. We are the driving force of Europe, we are the true People’s Party of Europe!”
