The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo presented this Friday, April 5, 2024, Éric Nkuba alias Malembe, strategic advisor to Corneille Nangaa, leader of the rebel movement Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC). He was arrested by military intelligence.
According to the army spokesperson, he is a key element of the AFC rebel movement.
“This is the centerpiece,” declared General Sylvain Ekenge, before emphasizing that he was in Rutshuru, in the province of North Kivu, alongside the former president of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Well before, the army revealed the testimony made by this member of the AFC. In this video, Éric Nkuba cited as military contacts of this rebel movement, notably former president Joseph Kabila and John Numbi.
As political contacts, he cited, among others, the honorary national deputy Claudel Lubaya, the president of the Monitoring Council of the New Year’s Eve Agreement, Joseph Olenghankoy, and the former director general of OGEFREM, Patient Sayiba.
As a reminder, the AFC is a political-military coalition created by the former president of the Electoral Center, Corneille Nangaa, with the rebel movement M23. It aims for “the rebuilding of the State and the return of peace in DR Congo”. This rebel movement is present in Rutshuru, one of the territories of North Kivu.
