“The province has witnessed crucial moments in history, notably during the two world wars”, recalls Marie-Eve Hannard. The First World War and the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 had a profound impact on the region, leaving behind indelible scars and poignant testimonies of courage and resilience.”

Even today, emotion is very present in the region. We honor the soldiers but also the civilians who went through this ordeal, in different places in the region. These places of memory form circuits developed by associations, municipalities or even tourist operators. “It is essential to pass on the memory of these significant episodes in our history to younger generations, to perpetuate the work of memory and support the values of respect for others, tolerance, civic-mindedness, peace, especially in the uncertain context that we currently knowcontinues the provincial deputy. Citizen values as well as efforts to promote these traces of the past for tourism purposes will constitute the major criteria for selecting projects.”

This call for projects is open to municipalities, educational establishments, cultural and tourist operators as well as associations working in the field of culture or citizenship. The project must imperatively, but not exclusively, be developed on provincial territory. It must be carried out within a maximum period of 24 months from the notification of granting of the subsidy. The funding allocated per project is capped at €5,000. The deadline for applications is Friday June 14.
